Job Overview:

The Behavioral Specialist completes intake assessments on newly admitted individuals, and obtains multi-systemic collateral from patients families, group home staff, behavioral therapists and other community providers to aid in understanding presenting problem, history, triggers, and antecedents.

The psychiatric inpatient 22-bed, Dual Diagnosis Mental Illness unit, specializes in treatment of patients with autism and intellectual disabilities and varying medical complexities.

Qualifications:

Required:

Masters in Social Work with LSW, or Masters degree in related field3+ years of experience in behavorial assessment, planning and interventionAt least 1 year of experience with managed care authorization and review process

Shift working, 8:00 4:00pm each dayFT

Essential Functions:

Completes initial behavioral assessment based on face-to-face interview/observation and collateral contactsCompletes the initial treatment plan according to specified outpatient/ inpatient standardsDocuments, according to established standards, relevant data re: assessment, treatment, outcomes, aftercare, etcWorks with community agencies in providing consultation and training on behavioral and psychiatric interventionsInterprets nature of illness and prescribed course of treatment to patients and families. Communicates family issues to other staff members. Participates in planning conferences. Interprets and monitors the course of treatment with agencies that work with developmentally disabledAs a member of the multidisciplinary team, assists in developing discharge plansPerforms the psychosocial assessment which includes family dynamics and treatment needs according to specified outpatient/inpatient standards. Assessment for developmentally disabled include behaviors, level of functioning, environmental factors and psychiatric symptomsProvides therapeutic interventions with patients and family including individual, marital, parental, family and group therapies which are geared toward achieving identified patient goalsOversees the work of and guides interventions of bachelor s level behavioral specialist and internsResponsible for documentation and data entry on all managed care cases including timely entry on Payor Status sheet and timely entry into computer data baseCompletes initial authorizations and continuing care reviews for all AIPU and CIPU cases in a timely mannerCoordinates with nurses, physicians and social work staff to obtain clinical data for continuing care reviewsCompiles statistics on managed care cases for 2N, 2S, 2D and CCISOther job duties as assigned
