Description:

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health, Mid-Atlantic, is looking for Benefit Advocate to join our Patient Access team!


Shift:

40hrs/wk, Monday-Friday days. Shift times to be discussed by department, per department needs.

Benefit Advocate:

The primary function of the Benefit Advocate is to counsel patients who have specific financial needs, advise them of any available options and assist in financial arrangements and resolution of problem accounts. 

Is responsible for researching and verifying any avenue of insurance and financial information that may benefit both patients and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.  

Functions to communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff, and other hospital colleagues.  

Provides support to the registration areas when the need arises.  

Provides professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers.                    

Completes insurance verification for elective, urgent, and emergent patients

Maintains a positive relationship with patients, physician office staff, third party payors, clinical personnel, management and other colleagues to ensure patient accounts are handled in a timely and professional manner and to promote a positive public image for the Hospital.

Qualifications:

HS diploma or equivalency

Associate degree and/or two years relevant healthcare experience preferred)

Previous experience with insurance eligibility systems including Medicaid, Medicare, and other commercial and private payor eligibility systems (preferred).
