Position Purpose   

As the Senior Manager, Benefits you will be responsible for the strategy, design, administration, and compliance of Sleep Number’s enterprise benefit programs including physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing programs. The Senior Manager, Benefits manages benefit program development and execution to ensure that the company provides wellbeing offerings that attract and retain team members, while ensuring compliance and effective cost management. This is a people leader role.

Primary Responsibilities 

Lead 2-3 benefits team members, to include individualized development, performance management, and planning and prioritization of the work.   

Develop and implement benefit programs in alignment with Sleep Numbers overall Wellbeing strategy.

Regularly benchmark our benefit programs and align our design with what is competitive and affordable for the company. 

Identify new and innovative approaches to benefit programs in response to market trends. 

Monitor costs and effectiveness of benefit programs, identifying opportunities to contain or reduce costs.

Manage vendor relationships to drive benefit process efficiency, service quality, and compliance.

Increase understanding and appreciation for benefit programs through effective communications and resources. 

Build strong partnerships with teams across the organization to ensure wellbeing programs are operating efficiently and effectively.  

Ensure that our benefit programs are fully in compliance with all regulations, laws, and mandates.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

7+ years progressive benefits experience for a multi-state employer.  Demonstrated ability to lead a team

BA/BS Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred 

Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Designation (CEBS or CBP) preferred 

Demonstrated success in driving benefits program efficiency, utilization, and continuous improvement  

Strong knowledge of benefits regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices

Proven track record of managing benefits vendors, open enrollment processes and benefits communication strategies Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to strategically partner with various leadership levels across the organization

Ability to see and understand the bigger picture strategy and vision for the organization and connect those to the direction and activities of the team

Passion to provide excellent support service & partnership to other HR teams and team members across Sleep Number 

Possesses establish a trusted network of technical and data experts across the organization to collaborate effectively across teams on new initiatives

Skilled communicator with the ability to customize approach for the audience, translating data into actionable insights & communicating the team’s priorities to senior leadership

Flexible and can handle multiple priorities in a high growth setting

Strong analytical skills and supportive systems leverage (particularly Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint) 

Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving ability, particularly in ambiguous or complex situations.   

Working Conditions

This position is based at Sleep Number’s Minneapolis headquarters and provides a flexible hybrid work environment, with required days in the office

Flexible availability required – business needs may require work during non-core business hours

Typical office environment, requiring at least 8 hours standing or sitting and regular computer usage #PIQ
