Benefits Account Manager

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to provide inside sales and services on individual and group health and welfare benefits and assists in the coordination, processing and resolution of claims. Serve as part of the Account Management team with the processes and procedures involved in evaluating a book of business; provides sales and services on individual and group health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary products; and coordinates assigned plan implementation, renewal negotiation, benefit coordination, plan analysis, and periodic presentations to clients.

Essential duties include the following:

Evaluates and prepares analysis of employee benefits applications for new and renewal customers to determine the appropriate benefits packages, policy coverage, changes, exclusions, and/or insurance needs.Prepares and submits carrier bid specifications to include maintaining a detailed spreadsheet on rates, premiums, coverage summary or letters of declinations on each carrier bid and reviewing same with Account Executive and/or upon client request.Requests, verifies, and enters census data.Establishes and maintains various files and records pertaining to program participation to include participant status and enrollment eligibility and maintains and prepared requested benefits marketing materials including contract, benefits brochures and forms.Conducts on site annual open enrollment to include adding and/or deleting individuals on benefits plans; changing benefits status of employees, retirees, dependents and terminated workers; reviewing enrollment forms and other documents for accuracy prior to submitting to carriers; and assisting employees with proper filing of claims information and problem resolution.Assists in providing training to other Account Management staff to include establishing and maintaining position-training manuals, commission tracking procedures and other department materials.Acts as a liaison to insurance company representatives and benefits consultants in resolving group and individual claim problems, issues and contract compliance, verifying employee coverage as required by health care providers, and coordinates benefits with other businesses.Maintains the resources necessary to administer all SWBC employee benefits products and maintains an up-to-date knowledge on new laws, regulations rating systems, forms and coverage changes that impact health benefits programs by attending seminars, analyzing proposed changes and presenting recommendations for action.Compiles statistical data and reports pertaining to various fringe benefits programs and monitors carrier compliance with contract provisions and SWBC policies.Prepares responses to correspondence and memoranda pertaining to various employee benefit related problems, issues and concerns.May solicit sales of new or additional services or products.Performs all other duties as assigned.

Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in business, insurance, or related field of study preferred.Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years employee benefits experience in employer sponsored health insurance benefits and management. Experience with agency information management systems required.ACSR designation in Health and Life preferred.Must possess or obtain within six months of date of hire a current Group I License.

Strong knowledge of insurance products, forms, coverage and strategies.

Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and analytical skills.Strong leadership skills.Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills to handle multiple accounts and priorities.Able to travel to current and prospective customers and to attend continuing education classes and seminars.Sit for long periods of time performing sedentary activities.Push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. of files, supplies, documents, or other related items.
