The Benefits Administrator assists the department with administrative support related to DU's benefits and leave programs including medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, and retirement programs, along with ADA, FMLA, and USERRA. This position will act as the main point of contact for employees and human resources for benefit questions and inquiries, as well as assisting with the open enrollment process and special projects. This position supports other human resources activities as needed. Starting Salary Range: $78,259 - $95,835.00 This is an in-person position located in Fairbanks, Alaska What you will do Coordinates with human resources department staff to ensure effective high-quality delivery of service. Administer leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, etc.) Guides managers and employees on the implementation of HR policies and processes to ensure appropriate legal and company compliance. Assists in the tracking of benefits related activity, analyze data for trends, gaps and provide ad hoc reports/statistics to support departmental goals and initiatives. Serve as point of contact for benefit related questions and inquiries from employees. Compose and prepare communication and correspondence materials related to benefits. Assist with open enrollment including development of marketing materials. Handle retirement plan enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, and loans. Track inquiries, issues and problems for trends and training needs. Document internal practices, procedures, and SOP's. Provide assistance with annual retirement plan audit. Provide assistance with new employee onboarding. Perform other office administration functions as needed to include filing, generating correspondence, reports, and data entry requirements. Maintain benefit files and records. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Support other human resources activities as needed. Conditions of Employment Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Business, HR Management, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Preferred 4 years of direct Human Resources or benefits experience. Required Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Human Resources functions and procedures. Experience with Human Resources Information Systems. Maintain knowledge of HR laws, current practices, and new developments. Understanding of benefit programs including retirement, medical, life, Flexible Spending Accounts. Excellent communication, customer service and project organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
