Benefits and Payroll Specialist
Title: Benefits & Payroll Specialist - Full Time FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Human Resources Reports to: Director of Human Resources Responsibilities: + Administer ARL leave programs, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), long-term disability, workers’ compensation leaves, and personal leaves of absence. + Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on leave options and company policies. + Review and process leave requests, track usage, and communicate with employees and supervisors regarding leave statuses. + Maintain accurate records of leave balances and ensure proper pay adjustments take place as part of payroll. + Review timecards to ensure accuracy, resolving discrepancies, as needed. + Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including processing bi-weekly payroll, reconciliation, and ensuring payroll deadlines are met. + Administer the workers’ compensation program, including claims reporting, case management, and tracking of employee status while acting as a liaison between employees, third-party administrators, and supervisors, when appropriate. + Assist in return-to-work programs and accommodations process. + Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs and serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits. + Conduct benefit orientations in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and provide ongoing education to employees on their benefit options. + Reconcile benefit premiums with bi-weekly payrolls. + Manage open enrollment periods, including communication, education, and assisting with the enrollment process. + Lead the Safety Committee and administer the injury reporting process. + Ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and other federal and state laws. + Assist with various Human Resources projects, as assigned. Education and/or Experience + Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a similar field or equivalent work experience + 3 years of professional work experience in Human Resources, highly preferred + SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, preferred Skills: + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles. + Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. + Proficient with ADP’s Recruitment Applicant Tracking System or ability to learn quickly. + Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software. + Familiar with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to employment law.
