The Benefits Assistant is responsible for supporting benefits operations and handles confidential information in a secure and professional manner. This role will partner with Benefit Admin and Leave Admin to provide support for general benefit administration and leave of absence administration. This role also assists with benefit billing, quality control checks and annual benefit renewal process up to and including open enrollment support. In addition, the Benefits Assistant assists in the completion of human resources initiatives and provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers in an effort to make a positive Human Resources experience in support of US Fertility.
We are currently seeking a full-time Benefits Assistant to join our fast-paced, high-volume team in Rockville, MD. This full-time position is hybrid, and the schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Pay range is $24.00-$28.85 hourly.
How You'll Contribute:
We take a "whatever it takes" approach, even if it's outside the scope of our usual responsibilities. The Benefits Assistant will generally be responsible for:
General Benefits & Leaves of Absence:
Assists with new-hire orientations. Be familiar with the benefits and leave of absences processes to serve as tier one support to team members. Work and prepare wellness activities and programs for employees as part of our wellness program. Manage Life Events including reviewing benefit elections, collecting documentation, and guiding employees through the process.Benefit Billing:
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges. Performing audits of invoices for accuracy. Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.Annual Benefit Renewal/Open Enrollment:
Assists with the open enrollment process. Including acting as tier one support to team members, facilitating office hours, and managing new hire and life event paperwork.General & Administrative:
Responsible for maintenance of confidential personnel files and benefit information. Assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Reports to work on time, as schedule, on a consistent basis (is reliable & dependable).What You'll Bring:
A degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school OR two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Extensive knowledge of computer software (MS Office, Windows) and basic computer skills; previous experience with HRIS and Payroll systems a plus. Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications, especially MS Excel, Word, and PPT. Customer service champion. Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other HR team members as well as cross-functional teams to design and implement benefit compliance programs. Broad understanding of human resources, health & wellness benefits, billing and best practices. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Possesses strong multi-tasking abilities. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to learn at all times.
