We are currently seeking a Benefits & Compensation Manager to join Bluestem Brands.

The Benefits and Compensation Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of the company’s health and wellness programs.  In addition, this position is responsible for leading and supporting ongoing compensation planning, design, and administration.  This role ensures programs align with the company’s business objectives and attract and retain talent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Partner with 3rd party benefit vendor in planning annual review of benefits, retirement, and wellness plan design, communications and execution. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, serving as the primary point of contact for all employee benefits-related matters. Stay current on the diverse changes related to benefits and wellness and develop a roadmap and workplan on enhancing the employee experiences. Collaborate with HR Business Partners and serve as the point of escalation to employee issues that arise. Partner with Legal and HR to establish and communicate clear and appropriate policies related to benefits and compensation. Stay current with changing regulatory and ensure benefits related practice and policies stay relevant. Lead and manage vendor service requests, billing and invoices in a timely manner. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop a roadmap and execution plan for compliance initiatives, including but not limited to SPDs, Plan Documents, 5500 filings, and annual 401(k) audit. Lead and ensure compensation structure stay current based on market data. Partner with 3rd party vendor on compensation studies, job matching, and reporting. Partner with HR Business Partner on annual compensation administration and ongoing market data support (e.g. timeline, compensation guidelines, communication, Human Capital system updates, job pricing, compensation reports). Lead effective communications on compensation changes, process, and administration. Partner with HRIS team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and execution related to benefits and compensation programs. Ensure highest level of collaboration with vendors, internal customers and employees. Lead various benefits and compensation initiatives as they arise to support the business. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field. 5+ years of experience at Manager level in leading employees benefits plan design, including healthcare and retirement programs. Experience with self-funded and knowledge on state and federal regulations (e.g. 5500 filing, ACA reporting). 5+ years of experience at Manager level in leading compensation strategy, planning, and execution, not limited to building salary structure, market data / job matching analysis, reporting and project work. Deep analytical skills and project management skills. Successful in leading operational processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvements. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interface with 3rd party vendors, employees and internal customers. Demonstrated ability to prioritize required work, project work, and incoming requests, and adjust priorities as needed with a sense of urgency and positive, can-do demeanor. Positive, solution-oriented mind-set. Proficient with Microsoft Office.
