Benefits Compliance Manager
We are seeking a Benefits Compliance Manager to ensure adherence to federal, state, and municipality regulations for all AutoZone benefit programs, with some international oversight. The successful candidate will maintain, update, document, and audit compliance with existing and emerging legislation, manage plan document review, and oversee vendor contract management. Scope of Benefit Programs: Health & Welfare Programs: Medical, prescription drug, dental, life, vision, voluntary benefits, and wellness programs. Retirement Programs: 401(k) Savings Plan (Qualified and Non-Qualified). Time Away from Work Programs: PTO, sick time, incidental time, paid sick leave, disability, and leaves of absence. Key Responsibilities Risk Management: Identify and quantify business risks and opportunities. Provide analytical insights and communicate these to stakeholders. Communication: Manage written and verbal communications on project progress, issues, and risks. Produce regular status updates and white paper analyses. Compliance Management: Ensure benefit programs comply with regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, FMLA, DOL). Recommend strategies for risk mitigation. Documentation & Controls: Maintain compliance documentation, including strategic plans, calendars, plan documents, and required filings (e.g., Form 5500). Vendor Contract Management: Oversee contracts with benefits vendors, including contract negotiation, renewals, and performance reviews. Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and file required reports, such as Form 5500 and ACA reporting. Industry Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of retail industry compliance concepts and regulations. Enhance team development and knowledge sharing. Compliance Testing: Execute the 2nd line testing plan, develop data analytics routines, and adjust the plan based on risk environment and business priorities. Reporting & Communication: Create status reports, escalate issues to senior management, and drive a culture of compliance. Relationship Building: Build relationships with internal and external business partners. Project Management: Execute multiple projects, ensuring alignment with the larger compliance testing program. Innovative Solutions: Develop and promote innovative compliance solutions. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage 1-2 individual contributors Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, security, law, computer science, risk, or related field, preferred or MBA/Master’s degree in a related discipline. 7 to 10+ years of experience in compliance, law, risk, operations, regulatory examination, or audit with 5+ years of people management experience.
