Benefits Consultant Senior
The Senior Benefits Consultant is responsible for managing progressive benefit programs by ensuring that Inova’s benefits are market competitive and aligned to our talent strategy and team member experience. This role demonstrates proactive, technical expertise to management, vendors, consultants, and colleagues in monitoring the experience of existing benefit strategies while staying abreast of emerging trends and opportunities. As an extension of Inova’s team member experience, this role ensures user experience reflects our commitment to helping team members thrive.

Job Responsibilities

Develops strategic recommendations for a variety of health and welfare plans by designing, creating and implementing systemwide benefits initiatives to ensure alignment with Inova Health System's mission of "Employer of Choice" and team member experienceAnalyzes current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, vendors, plan experience and competitive trends to ensure Inova remains competitive to retain and attract team membersUtilizes internal and external data to identify opportunities to improve existing benefit program and wellbeing initiatives to align with people strategyAnalyzes data reports to determine utilization, cost, and funding and evaluates and monitors benefit vendors to ensure plan effectiveness and operating within benefits budget and develops appropriate conclusions and recommendations to help guide people strategy and decision-makingDelivers analytics and reports of key business trends to the Corporate Benefits Team, and other key leaders and stakeholdersParticipates in benchmarking surveysInterprets, counsels, educates, and communicates to managers and staff on benefit policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of benefit plansDevelops effective communication plans and content for benefit plan changes/enhancements, annual enrollment, and targeted communication strategiesLeads vendor meetings, annual benefits enrollment, Request for Proposal projects, implementation of new benefit plans and insurance vendors, and trains-the-trainer for Human Resource Business Partners and call center staffNegotiates skillfully within the framework of a given project with both internal and external groups to ensure successful project implementationCollaborates with other departments and external third-party administrators to ensure seamless benefit operations and employee experienceMentors and guides less experienced Benefits employeesUnderstands the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices and procedures to interpret and articulate to management and staffDiagnoses and effectively resolves issues in Health and Group Benefits and communicates resolution effectively to employees, vendors, Benefits team, Human Resources leadership, senior management and appropriate parties to improve organizational effectivenessMay perform additional duties as assigned

Certification - None requiredLicensure - None requiredExperience - 5 years of experience in Human Resources including 3 years of progressive Benefits-related experienceEducation - Bachelor's Degree
