Troon is seeking a professional to join our team at our Scottsdale office. The Manager, Benefits Operations, is responsible for the administration, reporting, and performance of multiple employee benefit programs including, but not limited to, health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and ancillary benefit products. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Benefits, the Manager, Benefits Operations, works closely with other benefits, HR, payroll and business systems colleagues to deliver compliant and engaging benefit programs.
Essential Duties:
Manage benefits team members, and works collaboratively with other members of Human Resources, Payroll, Business Systems and Accounting teams to deliver benefit programs. Ensure policy and statutory compliance with provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Consolidated Omnibus budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Manage the benefit reconciliation process, including data related to benefits enrollment, eligibility, automated life events, and acquisitions. Contribute to and manages elements of the annual Open Enrollment process to include design, programming, vendor interface files, and testing of HRIS systems. Analyze, interpret, and create benefits reports regularly or as needed. Responsible for reviewing invoice reconciliation and ensure vendors are paid timely. Analyze and propose resolutions to data discrepancies through periodic testing and auditing. Manage escalated benefit inquiries to ensure efficient and courteous resolution. Assist with completion of benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan documents and agreements. Work with the Sr. Director of Benefits, consultants, and other team members on the development of benefit programs and providers. Participates in vendor negotiations and renewals. Maintain process documentation and drive continuous improvement efforts supporting benefit operations. Promotes a respectful and inclusive work environment. Regular and reliable attendance. Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related benefits experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years minimum prior supervisory experience.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
Experience managing benefits across multiple geographies. In-depth knowledge of benefits related state and federal regulations. Experience with 401(k) administration and plan audits. Strong understanding of benefits business rules (i.e. Section 125, eligibility, plan designs). Proficiency with UKG (preferred) and/or benefits modules of HR systems. Adept with Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis in Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables, importing text files). Prior benefit data analysis and reporting experience. Analysis and deductive reasoning skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical/problem solving and process management skills. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Certificates/Licenses:
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Senior/Professional in Human Resources (SPHR/PHR) preferred but not required.
Location:
This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ. Periodic out-of-state travel will be required.
