Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Benefits Specialist who will manage 401k enrollments, reports, and audits. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of employee benefit plans and will work with vendors to identify the best value options. You will serve as the primary contact for plan vendors, third-party administrators, and brokers, ensuring compliance with government regulations and the accuracy of required reporting and fees.
ResponsibilitiesManage 401k enrollments, reports, and audits.Research employee benefit plans and vendors to identify the best value.Negotiate with brokers to secure the best plans, options, and rates.Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors, third-party administrators, and brokers.Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.Coordinate daily benefit processing, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, 401k hardships, and compliance testing.Manage the 401k audit report process due to the IRS.Handle benefits questions, LOA, COBRA, and leave policies.Prepare weekly 401k enrollment reports for new additions.Essential SkillsProficiency with computer systems and technical aptitude.Experience with HRIS and benefits databases.Ability to understand, evaluate, and make judgments on proposals (RFPs).Knowledge of benefits contract language.Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting employee benefits programs, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, and Social Security.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role exclusively working with benefits.Experience in compiling 401k audits and reports.Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations governing benefits plans (FMLA/LOA).Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Engagement with TPAs and auditing firms.Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with an average of 5 hours of overtime per week. The hours are 8am to 5pm, with a 1-hour lunch break. This position is based in an office setting with a business casual dress code. The company is family-owned with 14 locations across the US, and this role will be seated at the corporate office in City of Commerce, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
