**Responsibilities**
The Benefits Specialist reports to the Program Manager. Primary responsibilities are counseling clients on public benefits such as Social Security Supplemental Security Income Medi-Cal Medicare and Private Insurance. The Benefits Specialist also enrolls and maintains CARE/HIPP and MEDI-CAL/HIPP applicants. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for yearly and as needed patient financial screenings and eligibility data input into mandated computer system. Works as a Liaison between the patients and case managers as well as providers The Benefits Specialist performs these duties as reflected in the mission of Dignity Health/SMMC and the CARE Program & Clinics.
**Qualifications**
+ Minimum requirement of one year working in a related position within a social services agency
+ Knowledge of public benefits programs a must
+ An understanding of HIV/AIDS helpful
+ Must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills
+ Bachelor's degree preferred
+ Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) desirable
**Pay Range**
$23.00 - $25.26 /hour
