Benefits Specialist III - Leave of Absence

General Summary

Under general supervision, administers and communicates the company’s benefits program in regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirement to ensure benefit plans are administered according to plan provisions and company’s regulatory guidelines.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Leave of Absence Administration: Working with employees and 3rd party vendor to administer leaves in accordance with all state, federal, and company guidelines.

Wellness Program Management: Developing and implementing effective wellness initiatives, promoting employee engagement, and fostering a healthy work culture.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Building strong relationships with employees, managers, and key departments, effectively communicating information and leave policies.

Organizational and Time Management: Managing multiple tasks, prioritizing workload, and meeting deadlines.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Identifying and resolving issues related to employee well-being and leave administration.

Make suggestions to management for improved efficiencies and delivery of information to ensure a productive and efficient workforce.

Assist with benefit audits and projects to ensure the consistency of services and compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Administer premium payments and the reconciliation of various benefit premiums to ensure timely and accurate payments to the vendors. 

Develop a wide variety of communication materials (e.g. forms, procedures, brochures, pamphlets, etc.) for the purpose of educating employees on benefit programs.

Education

B.S. in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience

Work Experience

4+ years of Benefits and/or Human Resources experience or related field 

2+ Leave of absence experience preferred

Experience developing, maintaining and communicating policies

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding applicable laws and those that impact the administration of Benefit policies

Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, along with HRIS products and mainframe software

Ability to work with and maintain confidential information

Attention to detail, superior organizational skill, excellent follow through, quick learner and internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills.

Ability to work in a high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlines

Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information

Team player who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment 


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States.

Base Salary Range: 

$68,842.00 - $103,263.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
