Position: Bentley Civil Application Support Specialist

 

Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly Bentley Civil Application Support Specialist and Admin to join the Digital group in Johannesburg, South Africa

This journey will lead to improve project outcomes, being able to leverage the digital twin, systems integration and interoperability, support for decision-making, autonomous execution, and integrated operations and performance centers.  

 

Application administrators administer Hatch’s computer systems and play an important role in technical software support and associated implementations. They have the responsibility to ensure applications operate in a manner that supports Hatch projects and corporate systems.   

 

They respond to tickets and serve as a contact/liaison for functional users, project systems managers and IT technical staff for technical issues. They provide application-level expertise, augmenting the skills and the expertise available via the service desk.  

 

They take direction from the AMS Lead and System Administration Technology Lead, and work closely with the Application Development teams.  

 

They work with the global Technical Implementation Specialists and relevant Product Managers to understand the requirements for each system used on a specific project in resolving technical issues.  

 

As the successful candidate, you will: 

Leverage your experience using the OpenRoads Designer suite of tools to provide application level technical support for OpenRoads Designer and related products.  Work with the application development lead and the ProjectWise managed workspaces lead to assist in the development, maintenance and testing of OpenRoads\OpenRail workspaces both in and out of a ProjectWise managed workspaces environment.  Read, interpret and understand CAD standards from various sources and integrate requirements into OpenRoads\OpenRail workspaces.  Manage, support, and resolve complex software, vendor, and proprietary technical issues.  Assist in preparing and providing examples and datasets to the vendor as part of service ticket submissions and working with the vendor to have issues resolved.   Identify and resolve medium to highly complex production problems for support of applications.   Maintain system documentation.    Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.   Collaborate and interact with various stakeholders including the ICT team.    Work closely with application development teams and vendors to tune and troubleshoot applications.   Plan and coordinate testing changes, upgrades, and new services, ensuring systems will operate correctly in current and future environments.   Willing to work after hours as part of a global team.   Lead and participate in efforts to develop and implement processes for application and system monitoring.   Lead and participate in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches and new releases.   Adhere to standards and processes for systems in Hatch.  Responsible for the process from Development to Production release 

 
Key experience: 
Skills  

Understand how OpenRoads and\or OpenRail Designer tools are effectively applied in a real-world environment.  Configuration\setup of OpenRoads\OpenRail workspaces. Ie Bentley configuration syntax, dgnlibs, annotation groups, sheet seed files, feature definitions, feature symbologies and element templates  Understand software and hardware requirements of varied departmental systems.   Understand the workflow and process requirements of complex application systems.   Demonstrated ability to be the subject matter expert in supporting, maintaining, and administering complex applications.   Excellent problem solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools.   Display and execute logical and complex troubleshooting methods.   Excellent verbal, written communication, and ability to work well with others.   Teamwork: Working together to achieve organizational and team goals   Demonstrated soft skills required such as presentation of ideas and ability to clearly articulate the concepts to senior management.   Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levels.   Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate progress. Desirable additional skills: Experience with Azure DevOps, Scrum\Agile software development methodologies and\or Git would be highly regarded. Willing to work in the office is highly desirable.

  
Experience  

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the Civil Design field   Experience with at least one of the following Design Tool platforms:   OpenRoads Designer OpenRail Designer Exposure to any of the following enterprise systems: Bentley ProjectWise, MS SharePoint    Experience with configuring OpenRoads\OpenRail to client specified standards is highly desirable.  Programming experience or experience with the MicroStation and OpenRoads SDK’s is highly desirable. 

 
Knowledge  

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training or work experience 

  
Key design software experience: 

OpenRoads Designer OpenRail Designer OpenRail Overhead Line Designer  Applicants with Inroads/MXRoads/GEOPAK experience will be considered.
