Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility is seeking a Bid and Execution Junior Project Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of managing our responses to sophisticated tenders, RFPs, unsolicited proposals, related business development documents and eventually being responsible for implementing the won projects. This role will manage the complete process, data collection, and finance estimates, including the LOA process, contract administration and negotiations, and other business development activities. You will coordinate with the sales team, project managers, and business leads supporting our business from the Sacramento, CA office.
You will lead a cross-functional team of mechanical engineers, strategic procurement, sales, production, quality control, and executive management to successfully compile, create, submit winning bid documents for maintenance service contracts in the NAM rail market and taking over their execution after successful wins.
What your day-to-day will look like:
· Develop, design, and complete customer proposals in technical aspects.
· Analyze customers' technical setup to judge product and solution integration aspects better.
· Complete technical analyses and support the proposal process at any stage as part of the sales team.
· Manage respective sub-contractors.
· Create cost/price estimates considering the financial targets of the business
· Develop the financial workbook with input from partners.
· Run qualification calls and ensures that projects are handed over to the project execution team with all relevant documents.
· Monitor profit and loss trends and outcomes of assigned project(s) by proactively leading changes in project scope, identifying potential problems, and devising contingency plans.
· Drive the project timeline for service mobilization, project landmarks, material delivery, and acceptance.
· Initiate strategic project activities for engineering and procurement and actions for service startups.
· Drive modification planning (also comprises the requirements for material and staff for modifications and improvements).
· Prepare and deliver monthly project reports, customer progress reports, customer change proposals, and presentations to management and internal and external partners.
· Track and optimize the defined critical metrics from the service contract throughout the project (reliability, availability, safety, etc.).
· Monitor the delivery of maintenance services and take appropriate actions to preserve contract performance. Verify that service-specific requirements are contained in the contracts with suppliers.
To thrive in this role, you have:
Bachelor's degree. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, a combination of education and Siemens relevant work experience will be considered. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bid and project management.The ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of rolling stock maintenance techniques, processes and procedures also involving IT, planning systems and maintenance management systems.Experience in negotiating or assisting negotiations on major contracts.Previous experience dealing with suppliers and commercially sensitive issues, preferably within the engineering/rail sector.Ability to travel 25% domestically.Setting you apart from others would be working knowledge of maintenance management and familiarity with the locomotive industry, equipment, technology, and regulatory obligations as well as PMP Certification or other project management methodology and terminology body of knowledge.Why you'll love working for Siemens! The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA is $98,300 - $132,700. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
