A bike patroller is responsible for various tasks during summer resort operations. Job responsibilities include emergency medical response, mountain safety, hazard mitigation, lift evacuation and monitoring resort bike traffic to ensure safe conduct on the hill. They often work on their own and must exhibit sound decision-making, interpersonal skills, and a high level of professionalism. Patrollers must deliver all the duties as required by SilverStar Mountain in a safe and constructive manner and must have a proactive approach to safety initiatives and constantly seeking ways of improving mountain safety for its staff and visitors alike. An acceptable candidate is a committed and hardworking individual who enjoys working in a variety of conditions.
Responsibilities:
Medical response for guests and staffRisk management, prevention and hazard mitigation Conduct daily openings and closings as per procedures.Lift evacuationSafe ETV/ATV operationProvide day to day support for the safe operations of the mountain.Be responsible for liaison with Bike Patrol Manager and Team Leaders in order to facilitate the safe and smooth running of the Mountain.Able to take direction from supervisorsWork effectively with all departments in particular Trail Crew, Events, and Lift OperationsAttend and partake in scheduled training sessionsProvide missing person search and rescue efforts as requiredRadio communication with mountain dispatch, mountain dispatching may be required as neededSpring and Fall signage maintenanceKnowledge, Skill and Ability Requirement:
Minimum 19 Years of ageValid Occupational First Aid Level 3 certificate or Valid EMALB of British Columbia; EMR, PCP or ACP license. Emergency response and first aid experience an assetExperienced mountain biker in all terrain and conditionsRisk and Safety AwarenessValid Driver License with a clear driving abstractRope Rescue knowledge, skills and certification an assetStrong understanding of the resort’s lifts and terrain an assetPhysically fit with a high level of fitness and able to work in all weather conditionsStrong human relation skills and multi-Tasking abilityA Team player and a committed and honest workerOpen minded and approachable personality with an ability to remain calm in stressful situations and emergenciesAt SilverStar, we intend to Play Forever.
