The Bilingual Education Navigator (BEN) focuses on the recruitment and retention of bilingual teacher candidates by supporting them during the admission process and throughout their career at CU Denver until they graduate. The Bilingual Navigator will guide them through educational pathways with a focus on working with bilingual students, ensuring they understand available resources, and advocating for their success. The BEN will provide outreach, communication, and student assistance from initial inquiry through enrollment, ensuring a smooth transition into academic programs and providing guidance in areas like financial aid and career resources.
Clery Act: This position involves working closely with students where the person may become aware of campus safety issues that may need to be reported as part of CU's commitment to compliance with the Clery Act. **Bilingual Education Navigator (BEN)**
**What you will do:**
**Recruitment**
+ Collaborate with SEHD Outreach and Recruitment staff to design and implement a recruitment and admissions process from inquiry to registration that includes a well-developed process of tracking and supporting students. Provides proactive outreach to students regarding various aspects of the enrollment and onboarding process, including, but not limited to, academic program information, pathway information, financial planning (financial aid and scholarships), and career/transfer resources.
+ Tracks student interactions and enrollment steps using the College's customer relationship management (CRM) system.
+ Ensure that all communications to students through the recruitment to enrollment stages are accurate and up to date.
+ Provides initial advising of all preadmissions in undergraduate program.
+ Provide information and resources to students regarding the FAFSA and financial aid options.
+ Collaborate with a university-wide recruitment team to provide support during recruitment events such as campus visits/tours and open house events.
**Admissions**
+ Develop and implement a communication and support plan in partnership with the Recruitment and Outreach Director that provides high touch support for students who are working through the application and admission processes and provides frequent outreach and support for students throughout the process.
+ Conduct individual and/or group navigation sessions to assess students' needs to convert admitted students to enrolled students.
+ Collaborates with SEHD and campus admissions to ensure seamless submission of paperwork/form processing for applied students.
+ Collaborate with university orientation staff to support SEHD student registration for orientation.
**Post Admission**
+ Follow-up to encourage admitted students to accept their offer of admission.
+ Ensures new admits are registered for orientation.
+ Supports students in accessing CU Denver student portal and email, including Duo two-factor authentication.
+ Discusses FAFSA and importance of submitting as early as possible.
+ Discusses how to apply for scholarships.
+ Explains immunization policy and supports compliance.
+ Introduce new students to academic advisor and success coach.
+ Reminds students to submit their final transcripts from high school or higher education institutions.
+ Connect students with Disability Resource Center as appropriate.
+ Supports students who defer their admissions.
**Academic Support**
+ Assist with course registration and schedule adjustments
+ Explain academic policies, procedures, and requirements
+ Monitor student progress and identify and address students' academic challenges
+ Connect students with appropriate resources such as the SEHD Student Success Center, tutoring services, study groups, and workshops
+ Provide guidance on study skills, time management, and test-taking strategies
+ Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement support programs
**Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)**
+ A bachelor's degree in education, business, public administration, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
+ One (1) year of professional experience in a higher education setting providing direct services to students, and/or admissions counseling/recruitment or education outreach experience.
+ Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and verbal
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
**Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)**
+ Two (2) years of professional experience related to the position including
+ Higher education recruitment and/or student support experience.
+ Event planning and presentation experience.
+ Experience with Slate CRM software platform.
+ Experience with student information systems (e.g., Slate, PeopleSoft or Banner).

+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally in both English and Spanish.

+ Familiarity with recruitment, admission, and yield in higher education
+ Strong experience with university systems that support customer relations, application and registration, and student success (Navigate, Slate, SIS)
+ Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to participate in teams toward a shared purpose
+ Strong organizational and presentation skills
+ Experience and success in working with diverse communities and first-generation college students
+ Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines
+ Attention to detail
+ Ability to work independently and contribute as member of team, develop relationships with wide variety of internal and external constituencies
**Conditions of Employment**
+ This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is entirely dependent on the continued availability of the grant funds.
+ This position will be required to transport oneself and work materials to and from in-state locations.
+ Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
+ This position includes off-campus outreach and recruitment events in person as needed. During weeks without events, an onsite presence on campus in downtown Denver three (3) days a week is required.

**Compensation and Benefits**
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $55,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
