Bilingual Nutritionist - Long Island, NY
The Community Education Senior Nutritionist will support the SNAP-Ed Regional Program Director for the Long Island Region in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention efforts. The Senior Nutritionist will serve as a subject matter expert to program committees, CCE staff, and various local, regional, and statewide agencies and groups. Additionally, this role involves securing grants and external funding and managing budgets to support the program’s educational priorities under the supervisor’s direction. The SNAP program is grant-funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Federal Food and Nutrition Services (FNS). REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree with a focus in nutrition or public health. • Knowledge of principles, theory, research, and application in nutrition. • Proven ability to develop, implement, teach, and evaluate educational programs for diverse adult and youth audiences. • Demonstrated capability to identify and utilize community program resources. • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. • Ability to work independently, make decisions, manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and work under pressure with minimal supervision. • Experience in using social media and developing environmental change initiatives to influence behavior change. • Proficiency in managing long-term goals while meeting daily deadlines with strong follow-up skills. • Effective as both an independent worker and team member. • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel. • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with strong oral, written, and visual communication skills using traditional and electronic methods. • Strong problem-solving skills. • High degree of accuracy, integrity, and sound professional judgment, with the ability to handle confidential information. • Commitment to inspiring, identifying, and developing volunteer leadership. • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with the position. • Ability to practice ethical judgment, ensuring adherence to legal and safety protocols when representing CCE Suffolk. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience in planning, teaching, and evaluating adult educational programs. • Two or more years of experience in Cooperative Extension or similar educational fields. • Experience collaborating with researchers, educators, and extension staff to develop and deliver community and environmental nutrition education programs. • Experience in grant writing and budget management.
