Billing Manager - Veterans Evaluation Services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversee the development and implementation of innovative methodologies to improve service levels and overall operational efficiency.

- Manage the project's quality assurance and training programs.

- Monitor performance against key indicators established internally or by the clients

- Responsible for cash application of premium payments,  invoice and statement generation, mailing and financial reporting.

- Responsible for daily and monthly financial reconciliation.

- Ensure appropriate financial and system controls are operating in compliance with standard audit procedures.

- Manage audits of operations.

- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures in collaboration with other key stakeholders.

- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and other external entities.

- Performs overall billing & revenue management including satisfying timely billing/reporting requirements, maximizing billed revenue/collections, and resolution of denied/rejected invoices or billing line items that require review and resolution.
- Provides coverage when billing director is out of office and assists with processes to ensure completeness
- Perform account reconciliations monthly or as requested on billed/unbilled values, funding, and billings by CLIN
- Support in the review and development of training materials, billing reports/dashboards, as well as assisting in the development and execution of new or optimized processes and procedures
- Request data from various systems in support of billing administration and analysis. Systems may include: Cognos, OMS (internally developed), Salesforce, or other.
- Create reporting, as necessary, to facilitate analysis of various billing associated workflows or stats
- Supervise and guide billing staff
- Write formal staff evaluations, provide feedback to the staff and offer mentoring opportunities to encourage staff growth and retention
- Develops, implements, and maintains billing department operating procedures
- Researches and maintains compliance with all contractually required billing items
- Provide oversight & guidance and/or monitors vendor & expense report transactions to ensure expenses are coded and or billed correctly.
- Work with internal and external auditors during periodic reviews and audits. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules, tax work papers, revenue by state, and or 1099 deliverables/inquiries.
- Provide guidance and monitoring on the creation of project and financial controls to limit mistakes or errors associated with costs or billings
- Reviews contract modifications, maintain financial contract files and prepare and reconcile reporting on billing stats and funding as appropriate.
- Manage and lead cooperative effort among members of a team.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and makes recommended changes to policies and establishes procedures where needed.
- Interacts with different levels of external and internal customers.
- Ensures the confidentiality and security of all corporate information.
- Performs duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in related field.

- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience required.

- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.

- Strong organizational, verbal, written, analytical, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills required.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office - Strong Excel skills (must know vlookup, pivot tables, if statements etc.)
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
- Ability to be a self-starter.
