OVERVIEW
The Bio Char Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment relating to the Bio Char operation. This responsibility is required for any shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen and communicate. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and performs all duties within the scope of food manufacturing guidelines and best practices, including but not limited to HACCP, SQF, preventive controls, GMPs and OSHA compliance according to training. Utilizes appropriate PPE for his/her work area. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the pellet mill & Bio Char equipment per sanitation procedures. Tasks include but are not limited to daily sanitation in the Bio Char area. Attend safety meetings as required by FCC safety policy and goals. Fills storage bins followed by trucks as needed with bio char. Operating the pellet mill for biochar production. Ability to use good documentation practices and analyze information to make adequate deductions based on information. Provides miscellaneous samples to Quality Laboratory technician when requested. Provides information of operational/equipment issues or situations that occur during shift to Bio Char Operator on subsequent shifts, as well as to Management. Available to perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager and Shift Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS
Mechanically inclined with the use of basic tools to trouble-shoot and make mechanical adjustments and repairs to all the machinery as needed. Understanding process flow of Bio Char operations Able to troubleshoot and analyze problems in the process. Able to operate pelletizer. Able to operate Pyreg equipment. Able to operate forklifts. Able to define problems, collect data and establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Self-motivated and can work unsupervised. Read/write English is a plus. Absentee coverage provided by Bio Char Operators.
