Job Summary
SummaryWork as part of a team to complete larger multi-layered tasks and projects, focusing on specific bioinformatics engineering tasks and assigned projects
Essential Functions
-Collaborate with senior engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
-Modify and develop new data visualization tools using datasets and web-based bioinformatics tools, with an emphasis on integrating various data types and identifying opportunities and needs for innovative solutions for the analysis and management of biological data in relevant databases.
-Participate in code reviews and offer constructive feedback to peers.
-Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software defects and issues.
-Contribute to the documentation of software designs and processes.
-Design, implement, test, maintain, and support web applications.
-Practice software development, unit testing, integration testing, code review, documentation, and version control.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Bioinformatics required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Bioinformatics preferred

Experience
Experience in bioinformatics engineering or other software engineering 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Back-end and API development using programs such as Python, NodeJS, C#, Java, R, and/or Perl.
- SQL proficiency.
- Web development using programs such as Angular 6+ and Python Flask.
- Familiarity with SDLC principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.
- Solid analytical, organization, and time management skills.
