Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

Eli Lilly and Company seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biologist to join our Neurodegeneration Discovery team. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, this position is part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing target identification and validation efforts to accelerate the development of therapies for neurodegenerative disease. The role focuses on high-throughput tissue processing with opportunities to collaborate on in vitro and in vivo experiments, contributing to impactful preclinical research.

Responsibilities:

As a Biologist in Neurodegeneration Discovery, your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality experimental data through high-throughput methodologies and collaboration across teams. Candidates with additional experience in in vitro and in vivo work are strongly preferred, as these skills will enhance collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities include:

Execute high-throughput tissue processing, including sectioning, staining, imaging, and quantification, to meet project timelines.Plan, develop, and troubleshoot cell-based assays and in vivo experiments to support target identification and validation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver experimental data and insights for pre-portfolio projects.Present data to the Neurodegeneration Discovery team and project leads to inform data-driven decisions.Perform in vitro characterization techniques, such as cell culture and transfection, to advance experimental goals.Conduct in vivo techniques, including tissue collection and molecular endpoint analysis, as needed.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or a related field.2+ years of relevant academic or industry work experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

Hands on experience with evaluating and characterizing cell and tissue samples, including:Experience with high-throughput tissue processing, staining, and imaging.Experience in vitro techniques such as cell culture and transfection.Experience in vivo techniques, including tissue collection and endpoint analysis.Experience with endpoint analyses such as ELISA and qPCR.Effective communication skills for data presentation and multidisciplinary collaboration.Previous experience in high-throughput workflows and data management.Proficiency in imaging software and quantification tools.Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize cell-based and molecular assays.Experience with immunohistochemistry and microscopy techniques.Prior work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Additional Information:

Travel: Minimal (less than 10%).Standard business hours.
