Biology Technician
Upstream Processing Biology Technician Job Description The candidate will help the performance of operations in support of the manufacture of Commercial and Clinical Biologics. They will follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and carry out a variety of functions related to Upstream (cell culture). These functions may include propagation of mammalian cell culture, conducting aseptic cell culture operations, execution of large-scale production bioreactors (50L - 2000L), and conducting large scale filtration or centrifugation. Responsibilities + Execute manufacturing batch records, work instructions and/or SOPs, with a focus on proactive ‘right the first time’ executions. + Assist with batch record reconciliation. + Maintain suite, supplies, equipment, logbooks, and data in accordance with site SOPs and policies. + Document all activities to meet cGMP requirements. + Complete document reviews and revisions, including daily record review, tasks, and databases. + Participate or lead in shift exchanges, 1-1’s, and meetings as needed. + Support quality investigations by answering questions and making suggestions for improvement. + Practice and promote safe work habits, adhering to safety procedures and guidelines. + Critically evaluate processes, including foresight and thinking ahead. + Ensure tasks are performed with a method of prioritization by interpreting production schedules and completing tasks accordingly. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting, or related field. + Knowledge of cGMP practices, aseptic techniques, or chemical concepts. + Bachelor's Degree in Science with experience in aseptic technique, cell culturing, and pipetting. + Experience with bioreactors. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in a cGMP environment. + Preferred: 6 months of experience in a GMP regulated environment and aseptic technique. + Subject Matter Expert on upstream processing steps. Work Environment Cleanroom/Aseptic suites - Must be willing to gown up. Rotating 12-hour shifts, working 7 days out of a 2-week period. Example schedule: Week 1: Work Monday-Tuesday, Off Wednesday-Thursday, Work Friday-Sunday. Week 2: Off Monday-Tuesday, Work Wednesday-Thursday, Off Friday-Sunday. Shift times: 6:45pm-6:45am (Night Shift) and 6:45am-6:45pm (Day Shift). Must be willing to wear a full gowning suit which includes bodysuit, gloves, hair & beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses. Prohibited items include makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne/perfume, scented lotions or hair care products. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently and stand for 80% of the shift. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
