Overview TRC Companies is seeking a qualified Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to join our multidisciplinary team in support of our contract to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to operate, maintain, and upgrade EPA's Human Studies Facility in Chapel Hill, NC. The successful applicant will maintain clinical equipment through the effective use of TRC’s medical equipment maintenance procedures and practices. Although, differing somewhat from the more familiar clinical work in a hospital setting, this position exists in a human health effects research setting where volunteers are exposed to precisely controlled airborne pollutants while in an environmental chamber. Otherwise, all responsibilities of this BMET position are the same as those experienced in a hospital/healthcare delivery system. Responsibilities Work with industry specific equipment, playing a crucial role in enhancing Clinical Human Health Effects Cardiopulmonary Research. Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on various medical devices, such as bronchoscopy equipment, patient monitors, and pulmonary function testing devices. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues using your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to ensure quick and effective solutions. Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards when handling sensitive medical equipment. Keep precise and thorough records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on equipment. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and clinical research coordinators to ensure all medical equipment operates effectively and meets the needs of the clinical research. Monitor inventory levels and manage orders for necessary equipment parts and supplies. Communicate clearly with management, team members, and other departments to schedule repairs and maintenance efficiently. Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the biomedical equipment program. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Show a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Effectively prioritize and manage your workload to ensure tasks and projects are completed on time. Qualifications AAS Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, or equivalent Military training or experience Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification (CBET) strongly preferred or possessing the ability to obtain CBET certification within the first year of employment Two-years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted) Proficient in all skills required of a BMET I Keen attention to detail and quality Excellent oral and written communication skills Organizational skills Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Basic Networking) required Valid US driver’s license required Ability to pass a federal background check Benefits*: TRC offers a competitive benefit package consisting of: Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance. 401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
