Biomedical Technician
Overview ***This position is physically located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP*** The overall purpose of this position is to provide medical equipment maintenance support. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Provides continuity and extended left seat training guidance for military during unit change over. Provides training and technical mentoring for providers. Performs corrective maintenance on all medical technology and equipment. Provides in person, telephonic and email technical support for providers. Provides technical guidance for providers ordering new equipment or technology. Maintains equipment records, OEM manuals, service literature and schematics. Installs new equipment and software as needed. Trains medical staff on operation and daily maintenance of medical technology and equipment. Maintains hazardous material inventory in accordance with all Federal, Army, installation and Vectrus policies. Maintains all tools, TMDE and spare parts in accordance with all Federal, Army, installation and Vectrus policies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must be able to obtain secret clearance and should be able to maintain the required clearance Experience: Shall possess extensive experience in all aspects of Biomedical Engineering technology to include electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and hydraulic disciplines. Shall be a subject matter expert in safety matters pertaining to maintenance facilities, heath care facilities and Joint Commission requirements. Shall possess extensive experienced with AR 40-61, AR 750-1 and TB MED 750-1 and all policies within as they pertain to the Medical Maintenance field. The Contractor shall understand guidelines explained in TB 38-750-2 when completing forms and labeling. Shall be experienced in using DMLSS to input and document all maintenance done on equipment Prior military experience in the Medical Maintenance field a plus but not mandatory. Skills: Must possess extensive knowledge of the relationships between electrical and electronic circuitry as well as the interrelationship of chemical, radiological, hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, or gas components of a piece of equipment or a system. Must possess extensive knowledge of the principles of electronic circuits, functions of electronic components, including X-ray tubes, in order to diagnose problems. Must be able to repair and test medical equipment such as but not limited to electrocardiographs, defibrillators, heart oscilloscopes, electron microscope, electroencephalographs, spectrophotometers, sterilizers, film driers, suction apparatus, and dental units. The contractor must apply knowledge of hydraulic systems including their grips, locks, stop and release mechanisms, and have the ability to determine proper adjustment. Must possess the ability to repair mechanical equipment such as sterilizers, X-ray tables, operating tables, portable oxygen generation systems, respirators, and other mechanical assemblies using gears, shafts, and pulleys. The contractor must also select proper replacement parts, modification kits, and identify materials, mechanisms, and components of electrical systems. The contractor must possess a thorough knowledge of electronic symbols, color codes, descriptions, and manufacturer's numbers. The contractor uses skills and precision in working with small components, requiring good hand and eye coordination and functional color vision. Must have a strong knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes and signal generators. The contractor must have the ability to use electrical test equipment such as ohmmeters and test meters as well as a variety of other TMDE as it relates to the medical maintenance field. Must possess the ability to interpret blue prints, schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, liquid/air flow sheets, technical manuals, and other specifications. The contractor must possess the knowledge to make various mathematical computations using algebraic expressions and shop formulas in relation to load requirements of wiring and equipment. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
