Biostatistician
We are seeking a **_Biostatistician_** who will provide research support to the Medicaid Epidemiologic Investigations (MedEpi (https://publichealth.jhu.edu/departments/epidemiology/research-and-practice/medicaid-epidemiologic-investigations) ) Study. The MedEpi study investigates health outcomes over time among Medicaid beneficiaries with and without HIV infection in the United States. Funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), MedEpi explores topics such as cancer, healthy aging, and COVID-19 outcomes among beneficiaries from 27 states and Washington, DC. The Biostatistician will work closely with the study Principal Investigators and research team to support the conduct of the research. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and application of statistical methods to advance the scientific goals of the studies. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Conduct detailed literature reviews to search for published algorithms using Medicaid claims data. + Develop comprehensive lists of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS needed to answer study questions. + Data management, data exploration, and statistical analysis using advanced methodologies (i.e., survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, time-series analysis, Cox proportional hazards models, bootstrapping, emulated trials, etc.). + Develop analytic plans and specifications for analytic datasets. + Write and implement complex statistical programs. + Report study findings on tri-weekly team meetings and scientific abstracts/manuscripts. **Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities** + Experience with advanced methods (e.g., survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, etc.). + Proficiency in R and RStudio, as well as SAS and/or STATA. **Minimum Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field. + One-year related experience. + Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in analyzing Medicaid or Medicare claims data. + Experience working with big data (i.e., millions of records). + Experience analyzing longitudinal data in the context of a research study. + Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate findings in meetings and scientific abstracts/manuscripts.
