Function/Duties of Position

The Biostatistics and Design Program (BDP) is a unit within the University Shared Resource (USR) program that collaborates with researchers in the OHSU community and beyond on questions of research design and analysis. The mission of the BDP is to improve scientific quality and rigor of research through providing research design and biostatistics collaboration at all phases of research. The BDP is a group of staff and faculty biostatisticians with expertise in the design of clinical trials, clinical and community-based intervention studies, laboratory experiments, and observational studies, as well as in a wide variety of both traditional and modern statistical methods.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assist faculty and staff biostatisticians with statistical programming, data management, statistical analysis, and statistical reporting.Statistical activities related to grant preparation, including power and sample size calculations/simulation.Other research tasks may include assistance with literature searches, preparation of presentations, reports, and manuscripts, and other tasks as needed. Required Qualifications Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)Experience with statistical programs such as Stata, R, SAS or others, data managing/curating datasets for anaysis, and strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated mature and effective interpersonal communications skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility with appropriate demeanor to maintain good working relationships.Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with faculty and investigators, staff,  students, and visitors at all levels within OHSU and in the community. The ability to forge and foster collaborative working relationships and enlist the support of faculty and staff, both within and external to BDP and SPH.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks under conditions of fluctuating workloads, competing requirements, and changing deadlines; and following through on assignments.Discretionary judgment necessary to handle confidential matters.Strong demonstrated organization skills, with the ability to understand overall program objectives and maintain attention to detail.
