The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is looking for a Research Associate II.

This position is a temporary with an end date of September 30, 2025, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.

Purpose

The position will support research studies in the Bipolar Disorder Center that interface with real world clinical setting. To excel as customer service representative for individuals with bipolar disorder seeking research at the Bipolar Disorder Center Research. To assist an interdisciplinary research in the Almeida lab at Dell Medical School, Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.

Responsibilities

Serve as the main point of contact for bipolar disorder individuals. Follow up with bipolar individuals to ensure their issues are resolved to their satisfaction. Offer guidance and support in navigating our research studies.

Provide exceptional support to clients via phone, email, and chat. Assist clients with troubleshooting, scheduling, and resolving issues.

Support research endeavors as a valued part of our team.

Work with a multidisciplinary research team. Maintain positive relationships with other departments. Collaborate with other team members to address complex issues and improve research and service quality.

Stay informed about research and services and updates to offer the most relevant support.

Contribute to creating and updating support documentation and FAQs.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience of research experience in psychiatry, psychology, public health, social work, counseling, or related discipline. Or Master’s degree in a related field. Compassionate with a professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal, or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Extravert personality type. Outstanding organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work well with a broad group of faculty, staff, and students, including the willingness and ability to train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students. Must be comfortable interacting in an interdisciplinary setting and interacting with people living with serious mental illness. Strong computer skills with a variety of programs. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing and managing REDCap database. Experience in a job with main responsibility is to help individuals with serious mental illness to navigate the mental health care system. Self or loved one with lived experience with bipolar disorder. Certification as a Medical Assistant.

Salary Range

$42,000+ depending on qualifications
