JOIN OUR 'OHANA

The Bird Handler will assist the Resort Avarist in looking after and caring for the resident parrot species at Manele Bay Resort by performing the following essential job functions:

Follow directives from Resort AvaristCover guest experience on days when Resort Avarist is scheduled offMust handle birds and maintain behaviorsRoutine cleaning and maintenance of all bird enclosures to high standardsPrepare food and feed according to established procedures including access to fresh fruit and vegetablesMaintain all feeding, behavior, training, and medical recordsParticipate in behavioral enrichmentCreate and narrate animal presentations to resort guests at Malibu, KFAS or LobbyLearn coconut frond weaving as of a guest experience demonstrationAssist veterinarian during routine check-ups and follow through with documented medicines or nutritional supplements as prescribedReport and communicate issues with supervisorsMaintain professional working relationships with all staff and maintain a professional appearanceBe able to work both independently and as a teamMonitor and ensure safe working environments for birds, staff, and guestsMay also participate in wild bird programs i.e. stranded seabirds around the resort
