Make a Difference
The Birth Doula is responsible for following an individual mom/family through the birthing process to provide emotional, physical and informational
support. The doula will do a prenatal interview, have contact with the family between the interview and onset of labor, work with the family at
the hospital during the labor and birth process, stay for 1-2 hours following the birth to provide assistance, and do a postpartum follow-up visit
or phone call.
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of approved DONA International doula training required. Available to be on call to an expectant family without hours set in advance. Prior experience with birthing families is preferred, but not required. Must be able to work independently and able to work as a team member at the bedside with other care providers. Have a knowledge of comfort measures for laboring women, doulas must be able to work independently prior to labor as well as be a team member at the bedside.
