Position: Bistro/Catering Supervisor $40-$45,000/year (Salary)

Location: Saginaw, MI

Schedule: Full Time

The Bistro Supervisor reports to the Executive Chef and Campus Vice President and is responsible for assisting with BOH and FOH operations, serving and assisting customers during the check-out process, and maintaining clean and orderly cafe/dining areas.

Essential Functions
• Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
• May prepare and cook foods of all types on a regular basis and for special functions.
• Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
• Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
• Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays.
• May assist Chef/Unit Manager with ordering, receiving and inventory of products.
• May prepare and serve food at numerous stations as directed.
• Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages.
• Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them.
• Responsible for maintaining clean work station and service or seating areas.
• May prepare or package foods.
• Set up or restock product, displays and work stations daily.
• Wrap, label, or date food items per company guidelines.
• May be responsible for washing dishes, utensils or other equipment as assigned. May take out garbage.
• Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or equipment to ensure proper working condition.
• Ability to demonstrate the use of equipment, such as coffee brewers and microwaves.
• May assist with inventory of supplies and equipment. May assist with inventory as assigned.
• Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
• Responsible for cash management. Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that
amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints.
• Adhere to and promote company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, uniform
guidelines, and productivity.
• Provide excellent customer service to include being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking
customers.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a kitchen environment whereby employees may be exposed to and/or required to operate equipment, including but not limited to, an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef's knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push, pull & lift items weighing 40 pounds or less. Employee may be required to stand for long periods of time. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
