What You’ll Do
This is a Salaried position, you will be a part of a blast crew in quarry blasting operations throughout New Brunswick. This position involves but is not limited to the following tasks:
Conduct blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved. To provide supervision to all blast site assigned employees. Take part in all blast site activities (priming charges, loading bulk products, stemming, hookup and initiation of the blast) Assist in shot design/layout and all preplanning activities. Ensure that all equipment to be used in that operation is in good operating condition, including vehicles used for delivery of explosives products. Ensure that all regulations, both federally (TDG, Explosives Act, Bulk Regulations, WHIMIS) and provincially (Blasting Safety and OH&S Regulations) are adhered to by all personnel on your crew. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all products (explosive and non-explosive). Ensuring that company policies, safe work instructions, hazard analysis, and standard are up-to-date and followed by crew members.
What We’re Looking For:
· Minimum educational requirements: Grade school diploma, Trade related education or extensive experience in the related fields.
· Provincial Blasting License Class I or II (NS or NB) or able to acquire based on experience.
· Basic computer skills and an ability to communicate effectively in the terminology related to the field in the form of verbal and written reports.
· Good physical condition is required with the ability to repeatedly handle 25 kilogram units.
· Class 5 Drivers License. Class 3 with air brakes considered an asset.
