Job Overview: Oversees and assists in the production of blood components manufactured at RWJUH Somerset. Acts as Administrative Supervisor for the laboratory on weekends and/or as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:

Medical Technologist 5 years experience in Immuno-hematology ppossess SBB with 2 years experience subsequent to graduation, or RN with 2 years donor room experience. Knowledge of FDA and AABB regulations.

Preferred:

Supervisory and quality assurance experienceRN, MT, SBB or equivalent preferredCPR training preferredImmuno-hematology knowledge. Donor room and/or Immuno-hematology skills

Scheduling Requirements:

Full Time Day ShiftSalaried positionMust be able to work occasional Saturdays and flexible hours, when necessary.

Essential Functions:

Assists in hiring new employees as needed.Schedule blood donor room staff to meet Donor needs.Oversee daily operations of Blood Donor Services and assist with phlebotomy.Trains employees and volunteers in duties and responsibilities of their specific job descriptions.Provides training regarding laboratory and hospital policies and Blood Donor Services procedures including cGMP.Monitors employees continuing education, competency, and proficiency.Perform employee evaluations.Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies: FDA, AABB, CAP, NJDOH, and Joint Commission.Develop and keep current Standard Operating Procedures and PoliciesMonitors department QC and equipment maintenanceInvestigates complaints, problems and errors; ensures appropriate action is taken.Performs tracking and trending analysis as needed.Performs Blood Donor Services quality program duties as needed.Maintains Blood Donor Services quality program in accordance with regulations.Oversees and assists in the production of blood components manufactured at RWJUH Somerset.Acts as Administrative Supervisor for the laboratory on weekends and/or as assigned.Participates in Transfusion Committee meetings.Read, be with familiar with, participate in periodic education/training regarding, and comply with, Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas' Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other corporate compliance policies (as may be amended from time to time).
