Job Overview:

BMET II can demonstrate confidence in using test equipment to diagnose and service medical equipment. Ensures all medical equipment meets manufactured specifications and is safe for patient care. Can demonstrate troubleshooting skills necessary to minimize downtime and loss of continuity of care. Can assist clinical staff in the use of medical equipment, document all work performed and participate in the Biomedical Engineering emergency on-call program. Staff assists management in meeting regulatory requirements and department/organizational goals. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Required:

Minimum AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.3 to 7 years of hands-on experienceAdvance knowledge of electronic test equipmentDeveloped troubleshooting skillsKnowledge and function of various medical devicesKnows MS-Office and other computer applicationsUnderstands medical terminology

Preferred:

Knowledge of computers and networksLife support/life saving equipment manufacture certificationEligible for AAMI/ICC certificationLeadership experienceMedical equipment manufacture certification

Scheduling Requirements:

8:00A 4:00P Mon-FriOn-call responsibilities will be required one week out of five (approx 3 months after start date) Working location is mainly Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, occasionally ACC.

Essential Functions:

Conducts preventive maintenance inspections appropriate to level of job competence using appropriate productivity & quality measures.Effectively responds to service requests, competently troubleshoots & repairs medical equipment appropriate to job proficiency level using established productivity & quality measures, demonstrating good judgment on performing component vs. circuit board level repairs.Inspects new medical devices & equipment with competence appropriate to job proficiency level.Assist Manager in maintaining and fulfilling the department/organization s regulatory requirements and goals. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of shop safety on the use of departmental electronic test equipment.Participates in On Call duties after normal working hours. Upon assignment, assist Manager with responding to/correcting medical equipment recalls/device alerts from manufactures and/or F.D.A.Assists Manager in giving medical equipment in-services to both operational and technical staff for specified medical devices.
