BMT Clinical Data Specialist

Provides consultation, advice and skill mentoring regarding database structure, use and report writing. Uses problem-solving skills in collaboration with appropriate staff (i.e., Management Team, Program Directors, RN Coordinators, Information Services Staff, clerical staff and outside vendors) in technical troubleshooting and enhancement request prioritization and approaches, and in setting data goals for the program annually. Provides training and training materials to database users throughout the department or Center to ensure data integrity and carries out quality control monitoring of all data entry. Carries out more complex data entry tasks, including abstracting data from medical records. Creates and maintains reports for purposes such as reporting to various registries (i.e., the National Marrow Donor Program or the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplantation Research), completing insurance contract requests for information (RFIs) and supplying data to clinical, operational and research projects. Participates in various organizational and medical staff meetings, as well as facilitates weekly BMT meetings. Assists in all phases of FACT accreditation/regulatory readiness. Assists in the maintenance of a joint database and BMT intranet website needed for program operation. Assists with BMT data management by reporting information in a timely manner to all necessary organizations as instructed by the Program Director/Medical Director and in accordance with federal legislation. Prepares and presents Data Management Quality Management reports and audits, as assigned. **Qualifications** Two year college degree in related field or equivalent experience (2 years of experience in a healthcare environment).Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills are required. Must be self-directed and flexible. Strong knowledge of computers and database functions is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and other PC software is required. Clerical training experience required.
