**Job Title: Boiler Operator**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated Boiler Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with boiler and refrigeration systems and possess relevant licenses. While the primary focus will be on boiler operations, the role requires flexibility to handle various responsibilities within the plant.
**Responsibilities**
+ Inspect, repair, modify and install equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves.
+ Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers.
+ Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, pumps, etc.
+ Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, and test equipment utilized in the trade; maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory.
+ Operate Boilers in battery at 100psi, and troubleshoot any issues related to them.
+ Test and examine boiler operations, observing meter and pressure gauges; conduct boiler water quality tests and treatment; adjust boiler burner combustion.
+ Lubricate bearings, motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
+ Install, rebuild, replace, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets, and other equipment as necessary.
+ Maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and PM work as required.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Maintain regular attendance and be on call when needed.
**Essential Skills**
+ Skilled maintenance work in the repair, installation, and alteration of equipment, components, timers, motors, and pump systems.
+ Knowledge of standard practices of HVAC and boiler systems.
+ Understanding of the theory of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
+ Familiarity with materials and methods used in the operation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
+ Knowledge of air compressors and pneumatic controls.
+ Experience with cooling tower and boiler water treatment.
+ Welding and soldering techniques.
+ Health and safety regulations.
+ Effective record-keeping techniques.
+ Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
+ Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities.
+ Calibrate systems.
+ Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
+ Diagnose defects.
+ Follow oral and written instructions.
+ Operate specialized machinery, equipment, and tools utilized in the repair.
+ Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
+ Work cooperatively with others.
+ Work independently with little direction.
+ Meet timelines.
+ Maintain routine records.
+ Lift heavy objects.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
+ 4 or more years of HVAC level operation, boiler operation, maintenance, and repair experience in the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
+ Licenses in any boiler, any refrigeration, any high-pressure, or universal HVAC.
+ 3+ years of industrial boiler operating experience.
+ Ability to work alone and with a team, possessing a BIG TEAM CULTURE mindset.
+ Sense of humor, ability to follow rules/regulations/guidelines, and being self-driven.
+ 1st boiler license, 1st refrigeration license, 1st high-pressure license, and experience in the Food and Beverage Industry.

**Work Environment**
Our company produces powdered milk for high-end chocolate manufacturers, which can create a mild sour milk smell that you can easily get used to. The plants are typically around 70-80 degrees due to the manufacturing process, with some variation in temperature depending on the area. We have two facilities: one is a large, newly renovated state-of-the-art facility, and the other is an older plant that is continually being updated. As a food manufacturer, we adhere to strict sanitary guidelines. Our team is tight-knit and works across three shifts with overlapping responsibilities, promoting a culture of collaboration and mutual support. We provide all uniforms, but candidates must wear steel toe boots. Flexibility with shifts is required.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, Michigan.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
