The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are currently seeking a Boilermaker I. The person in this role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing all the energy plant and still water operations. You will construct, assemble, maintain and repair system absorption and electrical centrifugal chillers, chilled water controls system, compressed air systems, wood-handling and ash-handling system, high-pressure gas and wood-fired boilers, air compressors, steam distribution, pressure reducing, water testing and treatment, and steam condensing systems. You will also interpret technical drawings and blueprints, schematic diagrams and electrical drawings and communicate the meaning to those who work on these systems.
Your responsibilities as a Boilermaker:
Coordinate operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of high and low pressure steam distribution and compressed air systems and campus chilled water distribution system Fabricate, install and repair all plant and campus mechanical systems Maintain complex hot process water softening, boiler chemical and chilled water treatment equipment Maintain boiler controller, chilled water controllers, and automated equipment integrity Maintain essential supplies for steam plant and campus steam systems and contributes to a safe and effective working environmentWhat You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
High School Diploma or GED Two year vocational or technical training 3-5 years work experience Proficiency in welding, steam pipefitting, plumbing, basic electric, pump maintenance, air compressor maintenance, experience with a wide variety of mechanical equipment, handheld and power tools Experience with a wide variety of mechanical equipment, handheld and power tools, ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and make appropriate repairs. Experience with or possession of one or more of the following below: First Class Boiler Operator License, Welding and/or machinist certification, Forklift certification, HVAC Journeyman certification, Universal Refrigerant Certification, Asbestos worker certification, Gas and steam fitter certifications, Control technician certification. Must be able to lift 70 pounds, bend, stoop, lift, crawl, work in confined spaces and at heights of 100 feet in extreme weather and temperature conditions. Must be able to see and interpret colored visual alarms and hear audible alarms. Must be able to work in dirt, humidity. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to work in dirty, high and low humidity, fluctuating and extreme weather and temperature conditions indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights and use proper personal protective equipment including full-face respirator. Must be able to work as needed for on-call emergencies, after hours, holidays, weekends, and campus closures. The pay range for this position is $26.06 - $37.46 per hour; however, base pay offered my vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
