Bonder III

Bonds a variety of dissimilar materials (composite or metal) assemblies, parts, skins, components, or structures into semi-finished or finished products. Lays out articles, cuts parts or materials to size. Applies liquid or solid bonding agents. Operates autoclave, hot bonders and ovens to complete bonding cycle. Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used. Sands, burrs and smoothes over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges. Monitors and verifies quality of finished product. Completes repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.

Perform bond repairs (composite or metal) on flight control and nacelle components. Bonding will consist of simple SRM repairs, complex engineering repairs and complete skin, core and doubler replacement. Repairs will be made with a variety of materials that will be called out in the applicable documentation while repairing the specific component.

Metal bond- be able to perform SRM/CMM or Engineering metal bond repairs utilizing a hot bonder, oven or autoclave. Be able to remove skins, doublers and core as needed, clean up component and details to reuse or fabricate new skins and doublers to fit component. Be able to lay-up repair being accomplished with the correct adhesive for the repair. Be able to maintain correct contour and ability to maintain close tolerances and finish repair after curing per applicable instructions.

Composite bond- be able to perform SRM/CMM or Engineering composite bond repairs utilizing a hot bonder, oven or autoclave. Able to perform SRM/CMM or Engineering repairs using pre-preg or wet lay-up material as required. Be able to step sand complex repairs. Be able to remove skin plies, doublers plies and core as needed, clean up component. Lay-up new skins and doublers using pre-preg material, are able maintain correct contour and ability to maintain close tolerances and finish repair after curing per applicable instructions.

Metal bond and Composite bond- Ability to perform bagging procedures required for the specific repair being accomplished. You will need to be able to control the conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various equipment according to the specifications for the materials and the type of repair being accomplished. Complete the metal or composite bond repairs to SRM/CMM or Engineering inspection criteria.
