Bookkeeper
Overview Position Summary The Bookkeeper is responsible for the administrative financial functions of the Goldbelt Heritage Foundation, a small Indigenous non-profit with about 20 employees. This role requires an understanding of Accounts Payable/Receivable, General Ledger, Data Entry, and Reconciliations. Further, they should have a commitment to supporting Indigenous cultural initiatives. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Ensures accounting is accurate and maintained in an orderly manner Manages the Accounts Receivable and Payable process Maintain records of receipts and other recordkeeping duties as needed Prepare reconciliations (Bank, Credit Card, General Ledger, etc.) Ensure compliance with grant requirements regarding expenditures Assist with payroll preparation, ensuring timecards are approved before the set deadline Grant recipient monitoring Running errands as needed (bank deposits, supply runs, etc.) Answer Finance department phone calls Assist with email and phone responses regarding accounting questions Collaborate with other departments to assist with any financial questions Other related duties as assigned Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with basic accounting principles (i.e., GAAP) Ability to communicate with others (guests, coworkers, executives) Must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers and with outside agencies, partners, shareholders, and business associates Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills. Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment. This includes a proficiency in standard software applications, including Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or higher Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations. Experience in QuickBooks Online and ADP Valid Alaka Driver's License Ability to pass a background and credit check Position will be exposed to multiple allergens including cedar and wool (sheep and mountain goat). Must be willing to travel to local and regional events via plane, car, ferry, etc. as needed Desired Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent
