The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.   A bookkeeper clerk's role in property management involves managing financial records, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial documentation. Here are some key responsibilities and skills usually required for this position: Key Responsibilities: + Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update accounting records and files. Analyze budgets and create financial reports. + Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage invoicing, handle accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payment of bills. + Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts and resolve discrepancies. + Budget Preparation: Assist with budget preparation and expense tracking against budget. + Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. + Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including tax filing. + Lease Renewals: Assist with updating lease renewals in compliance with HUD and affordable housing regulations. Required Skills: + Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in handling financial data. + Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records. + Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in basic math and ability to analyze financial data. + Communication Skills: Effective communication capabilities to interact with vendors, tenants, and management staff. + Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and Checkscan, familiarity with standard accounting software like QuickBooks or Sage, and Microsoft Office Suite. Qualifications: + A high school diploma is required, but an associate’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. + Previous experience in bookkeeping or a similar role, especially within property management, is highly advantageous. + Familiarity with HUD and managing affordable housing portfolios is required.
