DESCRIPTION:

The Service Line Manager provides leadership for a unique Service Line within a Business Unit. This role is responsible for leading a team to help achieve results of the Business Unit, developing strategies for growth and sales in the Service Line, achieving Service Line revenue goals and project performance. The Service Line Manager provides technical direction and management to a group of employees in the service line, and for continuous improvement of scopes of work within service line to optimize SSR’s approach to sales and project delivery. This position is responsible for ensuring that projects within the service line are delivered on time, within budget, and of the highest technical quality. Ensures all products, initiatives, and processes are in conformation with organization’s established policies and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Coordinates with the Business Unit Director on service line strategy, staffing, and sales/revenue goals and forecasting Holds responsibility for service line project profitability. Service lines within Business units do not have separate financials, but financial success is measured at growth and profitability at the project level. Collaborates with the Business Unit Director on revenue management · Holds responsibility for growth and sales of service line. Ensures that projects within the service line are executed on time, in accordance with the client’s requirements, and within company policies, procedures, and standards · Works to continuously improve and optimize and modernize how scopes of work are sold and executed within the service line. Mentors staff on project financial management, project management, and client relations Interacts with clients regarding SSR services, project leads, proposal requests, and client maintenance activities Coordinates with Business Unit Director on company standards, industry trends, and corporate directives Performs resource management duties such as weekly man-hour assignments and allocation Interfaces with Client Relationship Managers and Project Managers to determine project staffing needs Approves timesheets to assure that project allocations are correct Manages the staffing levels and utilization of the service line by tracking performance statistics, maintaining communication with team members, and facilitating employee allocation Works with HR to plan and execute employee development and technical training including facilitating development through internal training Evaluates the performance of technical staff and provides salary and bonus recommendations Leads efforts for staffing within service line, recruitment, selection, and development of team members Oversees and guides project teams in carrying out design and engineering tasks Reviews unusual or complex design problems and provides guidance for a solution Ensures that all necessary inter-discipline coordination and other communications are being effectively accomplished at all levels Resolves disputes and conflicts that develop within the service line or with other business units Prepares template project plans to be utilized by team to increase efficiency of project execution and training Responsible for oversight of team’s technical standards and oversight of implementation on projects Responsible for the technical quality of work performed within the team Reviews unusual or complex problems and provides guidance for their solutions Provides key project leadership Responsible for oversight of other team members in successful project execution Responsible for assisting in training and development oversight of colleagues within discipline Networks throughout the industry to identify opportunities and builds / maintains client relationships Creates and supports an environment of collaboration and engagement within the team Maintains knowledge of new technical developments in the discipline and assists technical leaders in the dispersion of this knowledge in the department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE

· Proficiency in industry Energy Modeling software such as BPE Manager · Proficiency in AFDD software platforms such as EBCx manager · Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems design and deployment such as EBCx Manager and BPE Manager · Strong knowledge of green building standards and approach to certification such as sustainability Consulting Manager and BPE Manager · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) software · Strong knowledge of Architectural and MEP systems design process, delivery approaches, and deliverables · Strong knowledge of construction delivery approaches · Proficiency in project management · Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations · Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques · General knowledge of accounting and how to create and maintain budgets · Strong knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies · Proficiency in resource allocation · Knowledge of contracts · Understanding of SSR’s disciplines, work products, and execution of processes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or similar 12 years of applicable experience in a consulting/engineering industry firm including a minimum of 2 years of experience managing technical professionals An expert within the discipline of her/his expertise Accreditation within the discipline of her/his expertise LEED Accreditation- Sustainability Consulting Manager and BPE Manager is required. EBCx Manager is preferred. WELL Accreditation- Sustainability Consulting Manager is required WEDG and/or SITES Accreditation- Sustainability Consulting Manager is preffered ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional: Building Performance Engineering Manager is required CxA Accreditation: EBCx Manager is required Certified Energy Manager: EBCx and BPM Manager is required
