JOB OVERVIEW

The ideal candidate for this position would possess knowledge and experience in metal fabrication and fitment, as well as experience in the construction process of new product mold tooling. This knowledge and experience would cover aspects of tooling mold construction, steel bracing, and welding. These molds include but are not limited to hulls, liners, decks, small parts, fixtures, and other production support equipment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction of molds to defined specification methods outlined in tooling manualsProper documentation of mold construction records through all phases of the mold building processMust be committed to quality standards acceptable by Boston Whaler and our customer baseAbility to work with a wide variety of hand and power toolsSupport the timely execution of assignments defined in schedules outlined by tooling supervisorAbility to interface well with other employees, supervisors, managers throughout the organizationSupport departmental 6S initiatives making sure safety standards are followed, immediate work areas and the shops are maintained in a clean and orderly manner daily.Follow company policies and procedures, immediately report any observed safety concerns to supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Proven experience as a welder, including usage of a variety of welding equipment and procedures.Knowledge of relative safety standards and the use of PPE (welding helmet, face-shield, gloves, safety glasses, etc.Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including cold saw, tape measure, band saw, general power toolsAbility to read/hear, interpret and/or understand instructions given verbally or written and exchange accurate information with others.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Welding Certification or willingness to obtain certificationExperienced in all aspects of mental working, fabrication, and welding (torch and plasma cutting, Mig and Tig welding, pipe bending, metal cutting machines, mill work)Self-starter, high energy individual who performs assignments effectively.

SHIFT & WORK SCHEDULE

Boston Whaler and BBG Tech Center have multiple shifts available to fit a variety of schedule. The standard work schedule for this position is Monday – Thursday 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Occasional overtime may be required based on scheduling and business needs, including non-schedule workdays or irregular hours.An hourly premium shift differential is available for employees working night shift and weekends

Shop floor working environment. Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels.Frequent exposure to high-temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months.Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikesRequired to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 35 pounds.Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
