This Opportunity:

Palladium is recruiting for a Grants Associate for Brazil, with a passion for building linkages in the country to enable accelerated carbon reductions to join our UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) team for the Brazil Fund. The UK PACT programme aims to improve the effectiveness of key institutions (public, private and civil society) in partner countries so that they can deliver accelerated emission reductions and raise the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) targets. Specifically, the programme will deliver the following results:

An increase in the capacity and capability of partner institutions (national, sub-national and civil society) to deliver enhanced and accelerated climate actionsAn increase in in-country buy-in to urgently facilitate low-carbon development

The position is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Reporting Lines:

This role will report to Regional Grants Manager Latin America and Brazil Fund Manager

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

The Grants Associate will be part of the Brazil Fund Team and will support the implementation the UK PACT grants management framework, ensuring programme level guidance and tools are adapted and applied appropriately at the country and regional fund level. The role holder will work very closely with the UK Mission to Latin America, as well as Brazil Embassy team to support pipeline development and grant management of Brazil Fund projects.

Specifically, the Grants Associate will:

Strategy Development and Engagement:

Support management of Brazil Fund grant funding windows to align with relevant UK PACT Brazil country implementation plan.Support market engagement to ensure the right local stakeholders are aware of, and well-placed to apply for Brazil Fund funding opportunities.Support delivery of call for proposals for Brazil Fund in collaboration with UK Mission to Brazil Fund team, Post, the Palladium team in the UK and the FCDO lead.Contribute to the Brazil Fund for project screening and selection processSupport the Brazil Fund Team / Latam Regional Grants Manager to ensure that all aspects of grant management are fully compliant with UK Government codes of conduct and good practiceSupport budget assessment, due diligence, grants agreements and reporting for the Brazil FundAct as ‘on-the-ground' liaison for Palladium affirming and implementing the FCDO strategy for the Brazil Fund, specifically, supporting day-to-day activities from stakeholder engagement and providing key contextual insights and overseeing the ongoing portfolio of grants in the country.

Key Competencies and Professional Experience Preferred:

Financial management and administration skills, with the ability to review and quality assure the financial reports of projectsGood programme and grant management skills.Some knowledge and understanding of the country socio-economic context and development challenges and prioritiesExcellent organisational, inter-personal administration and communication skillsProfessional fluency in EnglishA high degree of personal resilience, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances Highly collaborative and committed to close working and open communication with colleagues in post and in the UK, and implementing partnersCommitment to neutrality in all dealings with stakeholders, including political stakeholders, to build trusted relationships and ensure maximum effectiveness of the programme
