Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food. Location Description Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Processing Superintendent schedules and oversees the manufacturing activities and resources to meet production goals while manufacturing food products in accordance with safety, cost, quality and quantity specifications. S/he will adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. This position always has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises and coordinates salaried supervisors including: setting goals, performance evaluation, hiring and terminating. Schedules and supervises manufacturing resources to meet production goals established by operations management in alignment with business objectives. Develops and administers material and labor usage controls. Implements programs to improve employee engagement and morale. Participates in production equipment maintenance program. Responds to unexpected interruptions of production. Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Always ensures regulatory compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. 5 – 7 years in processing and supervision Experience with continuous manufacturing processes. Experience with preventative & predictive maintenance programs. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills. Able to direct, train and motivate department personnel. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual in Spanish desired. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: None OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise all department functions. Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, SAP, Kronos, etc. Ability to recognize problem situations, investigate and take appropriate steps to resolve. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments. Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments. Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment. Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction. Displays responsible behavior at work. Open to change. Ability to be on call & work extended or after hours as necessary.
