The**University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences**currently invites applications from qualified candidates for the role of Section Chief in the Breast Imaging Section. This pivotal position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of breast imaging by assuming a leadership role and cultivating a collaborative environment that fosters both clinical and academic growth within the Breast Imaging section. The successful candidate will undertake a range of responsibilities, including overseeing clinical service lines, ensuring the delivery of exceptional clinical services working with other breast care providers in our comprehensive cancer care center, pursuing, and capitalizing on research opportunities, supporting educational initiatives for residents and fellows, actively participating in quality improvement and value initiatives, and providing support to section members as they strive for excellence in their clinical, research, and educational pursuits. This appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with the potential consideration for a departmental leadership position based on the candidate’s prior experience.
**Qualifications** :
The candidate should be ABR board certified and breast imaging fellowship (or equivalent)-trained in all aspects of clinical breast imaging. A current appointment as Assistant Professor or at a higher rank and experience in breast imaging practice for minimum 5 years are required. The ideal candidate should possess comprehensive experience in all aspects of breast imaging practice including biopsy and MRI . Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate should have a strong academic interest and prior evidence of educational leadership and/or research productivity. Prior experience in operational leadership is desired.
**Facilities** :
You will work in **state-of-the-art facilities** that support a robust clinical, educational, and research environment. These include:
+ The breast imaging section provides clinical services at the**University Hospital**and**Huntsman Cancer Hospital**, an NCI -designated premier cancer center, and multiple outpatient centers throughout the Wasatch front. Clinical services are based at the**Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers**, a world-class facility dedicated to women’s health within our regional NCCN designated regional cancer center and several outpatient centers.
+ Advanced imaging modalities, including 100% tomosynthesis mammography fleet, tomosynthesis-guided biopsy systems, MRI -guided interventions, dedicated breast ultrasound units and potential for abbreviated breast MRI and contrast-enhanced mammography (the latter currently used as investigational device).
+ Opportunities for cutting-edge research collaborations, including the**Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research ( UCAIR ),**which provides access to expertise in imaging sciences, physics, engineering, and more.
+ Collaboration on ongoing innovations such as **MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU )** for breast cancer treatment.
Our health system also offers extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRI scanners, digital PET -CT scanners, and SPECT -CT scanners. Pre-clinical imaging resources, such as micro PET - MRI , micro SPECT -CT, micro PET , and 7T MRI , are available at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the main campus. Furthermore, the department has multiple 3T MRI scanners dedicated for research activities.
