Summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Breast Medical Oncologist at the Assistant level who will serve as an Academic Member in the Moffitt Cancer Center Don and Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program. The position involves all aspects of patient care, including the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients. The position demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach to optimize patient care delivery.  

The role also engages in clinical or translational research in conjunction with delivery of clinical services. This position will demonstrate creative activity, including discovery of new knowledge & development of new educational techniques. Protected time available for those that demonstrate capacity to perform clinical or translational research. This position will report to the Department Chair. Faculty program assignments are disease-specific, and the Breast Department is currently represented by sub-specialists in surgical oncology, medical oncology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, radiation therapy, pathology, radiology, and psycho-social medicine. Collaboration research between clinicians as well as basic and population scientists is part of the culture.  

Successful candidates must have an M.D. degree or equivalent, a Florida medical license or be eligible for one, be board certified/eligible in general surgery, and fellowship trained in an SSO-approved surgical oncology or breast oncology program. Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical practice setting is preferred. 

The Breast Department at Moffitt is a high-volume program that sees approximately 1,000 new patients each year. Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Florida’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a rapidly growing center affiliated with the University of South Florida. The Cancer Center is comprised of a large ambulatory care facility, a 206-bed hospital, with a 36-bed blood and marrow transplant program, 20 state of the art operating suites, a 30-bed intensive care unit, a high-volume screening program, and a basic science research facility. The Moffitt Research Institute (MRI) is comprised of approximately 160 Principal Investigators, 58 laboratories, and 306,000 square feet of research space.  

Faculty of the Moffitt Cancer Center are eligible for academic appointments at the University of South Florida College of Medicine Academic rank is commensurate with qualifications & experience.

MD or Equivalent Board certified (or eligible) in Hematology/Oncology Requires successful completion of an approved Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology Florida Medical License DEA License ACLS as required by privileges granted through Medical Staff
