This position serves as a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and is a paraprofessional support person who gives basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

Or other appropriate services per ChristianaCare’s policies.Attends and assists with prenatal classes and breastfeeding support groups.Attends WIC staff meetings and breastfeeding conferences/workshops per the WIC contractReads assigned books and materials on breastfeeding that may be provided by the supervisor.May assist WIC and ChristianaCare staff in promoting breastfeeding support and peer counseling through special projects and duties as assigned.Provides timely reports including data and patient activity information as the department requires.Works to create linkages with WIC, ChristianaCare programs and other community resources for pregnant and new parents.Provide support to the Outpatient Lactation CliniccProvide pre-natal and post-partum breast feeding support for inpatient hospital, outpatient office or community setting of ChristianaCare campusesSpecial Requirements:Attends a series of breastfeeding trainings and classes. Observes other peer counselors or breastfeeding experts helping mothers breastfeed. Reads assigned books or materials about breastfeeding.
Hours:Ability to work flexible schedule, including every other Saturday. Required to attend community events as needed.
