Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Infrastructure – Transportation business practice in the Mid Atlantic Sector, based in Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Division Manager – Complex Structures with a focus on highway and railway related structures and bridges. Project types will be diverse and include, but not be limited to, new structures, rehabilitation of existing structures, and inspections and load rating of existing structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and transit/railway facilities. The projects will involve a wide variety of structure types, foundations and materials for clients such as DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, WMATA, Utility Owners, Federal Agencies, Private Developers and Metropolitan Washington Local Governments and Municipalities.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Structural design for all project types, including complex bridges; Schematic/geometric layout design of new structures; Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate; Conduct load rating analysis for bridges; Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations; Conduct on-site inspection, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures; Perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates; Construction phase engineering support including reviews of shop drawings and requests for information; Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables.
What your experience looks like
BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and EIT certification required. Bridge inspection training/certificate preferred. Knowledge AASHTO and bridge analysis, design and detailing preferred. Knowledge of structural analysis software including SAP-CSI, AASHTOWareBrR, LARSA 4D or similar preferred. Proficient with Bentley’s MicroStation® and AutoCAD preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills.
The pay range for this role is $75,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
