Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineering
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer** for our **Valhalla, New York** office. Be involved in projects with our Northeast Bridge Inspection Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact + Review previous inspection reports and plan field operations. + Apply high-level structural and civil engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation. + Perform professional inspection work, complete inspection reports and conduct research. + Direct other field members and demonstrate high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. + Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and enforce safe operations in field. + Liaison with client field/facility staff, assist with critical condition findings. + Technical compliance + Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner + Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development. + Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. + 10+ years of relevant post education bridge engineering experience in design, construction, inspection or other bridge engineering related work for NY metro agencies + New York State PE License + Knowledge and experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects. + Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. + Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights and in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc. + Current FHWA/NHI Bridge Inspection Training (2-week Bridge Safety Training and/or Refresher courses) + OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Certified + Valid unrestricted driver license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Engineering. + Experience using the NYSDOT's EAM/BDIS Bridge Inspection Report Documentation software. + Bridge Load Rating Experience using AASHTO's BrR software. **Compensation and Benefits** WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
